The Big Swim

June 2010

As you may have heard on the local news and BBC news, the 9 swimmers achieved their goal by swimming in relay from Burrow-in-Furness to Laxey on the Isle of Man. This was done in an astounding 30 hours. We are grateful for all the dedication, hard work, emotional strains and jellyfish stings they took for Balla Africa. We would like to thank all the swimmers, kayakers, captain and his crew for the awareness and fundraising they did on our behalf. Of course this would not have happened without the generous sponsorship from Fortress Management Limited. Photos

On their arrival, the exhausted swimmers were welcomed on Laxey beach by many families, who came down in support of them and Balla Africa and who enjoyed a well-organised Fun Day. We would like to thank all those who helped organise this day as well as all those who helped on the day to make this a great success.
